Some things you may not know about Eric Church

Eric Church is one of the biggest stars in contemporary country music, but despite his fame, he remains somewhat of an enigma.

Church tours like crazy and releases hit records, but he tends to cultivate an air of mystery. He talks a lot about his music in public, but not that much about the rest of his life, which includes a wife and two kids away from the spotlight.

He Has a Marketing Degree
He earned a marketing degree from Appalachia State University before moving to Music City, where he signed with Sony ATV Publishing and began demoing 60 songs a year.

He Wears Sunglasses Because He Wears Contacts
He started wearing them because early in his career, the stage lights would “bake my contacts and they’d fall out, so I’d end up being blind onstage. Someone suggested glasses, and it worked. What’s funny, it stuck. It was never thought out. We never thought, ‘This would be good.'”

His Real Name Is Kenneth
Church was born Kenneth Eric Church, and his father is also named Ken. However, he’s gone by Eric for so long that even both of his parents address him as Eric now.
