Often times controversy arises in Hollywood with a scene that takes place IN a movie. Now, there seems to be a conservative uproar about something NOT in a film. Here’s the scoop – the scene in the upcoming Ryan Gosling Apollo 11 film ‘First Man’ was shot without the American flag being physically planted on the moon by Buzz Aldrin, is described by the producers of the film as a ‘Human Moment’ and not necessarily an American achievement.

Conservative news and opinion outlets, critics and Fox News, in particular, are calling it ‘UnAmerican’ while Buzz’s sons are defending that decision, while their father is not. Aldrin went to his social pages to post images of the moon landing along, including #Proud to be an American. Buzz also retweeted a photo of himself standing next to an Apollo 11 photo. Director Damien Chazelle’s ‘First Man’ focuses on the space mission from Neil Armstrong’s eyes, including the personal struggles during that time. Chazelle’s ‘First Man’ hits theaters October 12th.
