Paul McCartney recently went to the ‘Cave’ in Liverpool for a one-day performance, with 200+ youngsters in the crowd. Did you know that the Beatles were heavily influenced by the music heard on the British radio coming from America in the late 50s and early 60s? It’s no coincidence that Buddy Holly and the crickets caused the band to change their name from the Quarrymen to The Beatles before hitting it big. In fact, the soul version in the late 50s “Twist and Shout” had an amazing influence on each of them.

The night the Beatles took the stage in New York on the Ed Sullivan Show, the world of music would never be the same. Manager Brian Epstein was a shrewd negator, as Ed Sullivan wanted to pay the Beatles a large sum of money for one appearance on the show, while Brian took less for two appearances knowing that exposure was more valuable than a one-time payday.
