The Doobies, Zeppelin, Skynyrd, Fleetwood Mac rocked the 70s, but while these bands were raking in millions from their hits, the 70s also became fertile ground for the best soul bands and singers to hen their crafts as well. Here’s more of the soul rock stars we know and love…

The Isley Brothers took to the stage in the 70s after their success in the 60s, using new studio techniques and sound to turn heads in rock and roll. Listen to “Who’s that Lady” and ‘Fight the Power” and you’ll hear rock through the experiences of a different generation in the 70s.

Earth Wind and Fire solidified their place in rock history with great songs like “September” “Got to Get You Into My Life” “Reasons” “After the Love is Gone” and “Shining Star.” Although their founder Maurice White passed on a few years ago, the band continues to rock today.

Norman Whitfield and the Motown band ‘Rare Earth’ Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Isaac Hayes, Spinners, Staple Singers and Commodores all contributed to the rock sound in the 70s.
