Planes Trains and Automobiles was a highly popular John Candy/Steve Martin movie from 1987, but these forms of travel have always appeared in great songs along the way.

“Jet Airliner” proved to be another hot for Steve Miller from his “Book of Dreams” album in 1977, but was written by Paul Pena, a folk singer that was blind. Paul Pena had very little success as a performer, but by the grace of God was bestowed all the royalties from the Steve Miller song. Life is good, right?

Fall Out Boy gave us the song “Sending Postcards from a Plane Crash,” while Joni Mitchell had “Big Yellow Taxi,” Bruce Springsteen gave us “Pink Cadillac, the Beatles delivered “Drive My Car,” and there was “I’m in Love With My Car,” from Queen,

Train continued to be a very popular method of transportation in rock, while “Rock and Roll Train” from AC/DC made us jump, Aerosmith warned that the “Train Kept a Rollin,” and the Clash sang about a “Train In Vain.”
