Prince died April 21st, 2016 (two years this Saturday) due to an accidental overdose of prescription medications. He sold over 100 million records, leaving an estate valued at over $250 million. He adopted the color purple for his brand due to his love of his hometown Minnesota Viking NFL team. Prince was also a very generous person, quietly funding or providing financial support to many causes and personal friends.
