John Mellencamp’s insightful documentary ‘Plain Spoken: From the Chicago Theatre’ opens May 11th. That’s the business headline. On a personal note, we know that John Mellencamp has been seeing actress Meg Ryan, spending time in New York as a new homeowner, and loving the Big Apple.

‘Plain Spoken: From the Chicago Theatre’ is a gritty film about his 2016 Windy City concert. You’ll be able to get the film in DVD/CD, Blu-ray, and CD on all digital formats.

The concept of this project is simple; take all the pretense out of a typical ‘behind the scene’ documentary, and make it real with footage, interviews, song, and sound, spun in a Midwest manner. At that show that night, special guests Carlene Carter, the late Johnny Cash’s stepdaughter, dropped by to sing a duet “Sad Clowns & Hillbillies.”
