If you’re a Stone Temple Pilots fan, this will excite you; Showtime is finishing up a documentary about the STP that will offer real insights, interviews, new music, and all the inside information about this terrific band. There will also be a focus on the late Scott Weiland.

The music world was yearning for something different in 1992, and STP gave the masses a real departure from dance and club music that was dominating the charts at that time. ‘Core’ their debut album, broke through with strong radio play and sales. The band released seven total albums, including a reissue of their 1992 ‘Core’ LP in 2017.

The attraction of STP can be found in the lead singer Scott Weiland, a flamboyant frontman who loved the life, the magic, and the trappings of celebrity. Like many rock stars, Scott battled addiction, losing the fight in December 2015, dying of an accidental drug overdose on the band’s tour bus in Bloomington, Minnesota at 48.

There is no word as to the documentary’s release, although it’s suspected to be later this fall.
