2018 Songwriters Hall of Fame Class Announced

The 2018 Songwriters Hall of Fame class was announced this week, and John Mellencamp, Alan Jackson, Bill Anderson and Steve Dorff will be honored with induction later this summer. The Songwriters Hall of Fame is designed to enshrine those songwriters that contributed to all genres of music, significant works that demonstrate exceptional talents in the writing and crafting of popular songs.

Although not a household name, songwriter Dorff wrote chart topping songs for George Strait, Kenny Rogers and Clay Walker. Steve would also launch a successful solo career. John Mellencamp’s career demonstrates legendary songwriting skills, writing many popular songs over the last three decades, and Alan Jackson wrote or co-wrote hit songs which include “Don’t Rock the Jukebox,” “Chattahoochee” and “I Don’t Even Know Your Name.” Bill Anderson distinguished himself as a great songwriter with songs like “City Lights,” and “Once a Day,” for Connie Smith, which at the time became the longest-running charted song any female country singer.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame’s 49th celebration is scheduled for June 14th in New York City.
