The original Broadway play and subsequent film ‘West Side Story’ earned a Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize for playwright Tony Kushner, based on New York City’s West Side in the mid-50s. The film adapted the incredible music of legendary Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, winning 10 Academy Awards, turning into a coming out party or Natalie Wood.
