There were plenty of surprises at the box office this past weekend, with a few movies reaching the top five in the revenues over this past weekend. ‘Maze Runner: The Death Cure exploded this weekend, hitting the $8.5 million levels for the number one spot. While ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ continued to stay strong at number two. We wonder heading into the weekend, will these two movies remain at the top?
Looking past those top two movies, ‘Hostiles,’ the new western starring Cristina Bale, reached the number three spot with nearly $4 million in box office receipts, and ‘The Greatest Showman,’ and ’12 Strong’ the post 911 film rounded out the top five. ‘The Post,’ ‘Den of Thieves,’ ‘Paddington 2,’ ‘the highly acclaimed ‘The Shape of Water,’ and ‘Padmaavat’ finished the top 10.
