Legendary singer Elton John is joining a group of performers who have announced that they will be retiring from touring. Elton was at New York’s Gotham Hall, with a coordinated group of press and fans at the Troubadour in Los Angeles and London to view in live stream on YouTube to hear the announcement. Elton took a few questions then played “Tiny Dancer” and “I’m Still Standing,” followed by a press conference. He’ll have one final road trip, a three-year goodbye called ‘The Yellow Brick Road Tour.’

In 1979, Elton became the first rock star to perform in both Israel and the USSR, a bucket list goal he had for many years. That wasn’t his biggest accomplishment, as he also performed a free concert to around 400,000 fans at New York City’s Central Park in 1980. Elton has also played the famed Madison Square Garden more than 60 times.

In all, Elton’s been nominated for 34 Grammy’s winning four times, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
