Elton John has scored his 40th top 40 album! This achievement comes with his newest release ‘Diamonds,’ which debuted at number 23 on the Billboard 200 chart. The release also marks an extension of John’s partnership with composer Bernie Taupin. Here are (in our humble opinion) the top Elton LPs…

The self-entitled ‘Elton John’ album from 1970 contained Elton’s chart-topping “Your Song” and to a lesser extent, the FM played “Take Me to the Pilot” putting he and Bernie on the map. In 2012, this album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

“Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” was the most talked about LP of 1973. The LP sold over 30 million copies, and contained the iconic songs “Candle in the Wind,” “Bennie and the Jets,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” and “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.” It was a double album, also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2003. We loved the shoes Elton!

You may not agree, but his 1992 album ‘The One’ was significant for a few reasons; it was Elton’s bestselling LP since 1975, getting him back to relevance, it went twice platinum, featuring Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, and his old friend Kikei Dee. It was also his celebration of sobriety, having spent two years prior, in and out of rehab.
