‘Wonder’ a touching new film opens this weekend, starring Julia Roberts, a talented actress that makes her way back to the silver screen. Based on a New York Times bestseller, ‘Wonder’ is the story of a mom who is about to mainstream her facially challenged 5th grader and the frustration and challenges this feat will bring. The movie is rich with the day’s issues; bullying, stereotypes, and bigotry.
Julia Roberts has come a long way from her first Hollywood appearance in the 1988 film ‘Satisfaction,’ an interesting movie starring Justine Bateman and Liam Neeson. Her bellwether moment in Hollywood, of course, came with her role in the Richard Gere film ‘Pretty Woman’ in 1990, earning her a second Oscar nomination. It was by chance she was ever offered the role; Meg Ryan, Molly Ringwald, Jason Leigh, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Daryl Hanna all turned down the role. She would eventually win an Oscar for her role in ‘Erin Brockovich.’ Julia has also earned a Golden Globe for Steel Magnolias, Pretty Woman, and ‘Erin Brockovich.’
