Just last week the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its 2018 nominees list, 19 total candidates, nine nominated for the very first time. Sadly, the Doobie Brothers are not on this list of nominees.

One of the nominees though is the supergroup The Cars. In the late 70s and early 80s, one band stood above all others relative to originality and sound. The Cars! In 1978 the Cars were named “Best New Artist” in the year’s Rolling Stone Readers survey by its readers. The Cars very first LP sold nearly seven million units.

The Rock and Hall of Fame will announce its 2018 class this December, with the actual induction ceremonies scheduled for Cleveland April 14, 2018.
