“Life In 12 Bars” is an exciting Showtime documentary that chronicles the life and times of Eric Clapton, premiering in a few days at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. The documentary was directed by the “Driving Miss Daisy’ star and Oscar-winner Lili Fini Zanuck.

“Life In 12 Bars” will also air on Showtime in February of 2018. Eric Clapton is at or near the top of every ‘greatest guitarist’ poll, so we’re spending a little time getting to know Eric better.

Eric Patrick Clapton was born in Surrey, England in 1945 to a 16-year-old teenager. Eric’s father flew off to Canada, and it was his stepdad Jack Clapp that raised him. His first guitar was given to him at the age of 13, and the rest is rock and roll history.

Eric struggled with alcohol and heroine addition in the 70s -being friends with Greg Allman didn’t help. The two became the heartbeat of Derek and the Dominos, recording the hit “Layla,” an anthem to Patti Boyd.
