Walter Becker of Steely Dan is Lost Forever

Walter Becker, Steely Dan co-founder, and musical genius has died at the age of 67[ the official cause of death not revealed. Walter had missed a few of the live tour dates earlier this year for an undisclosed illness, now the illness which caused his unexplained absences and death seem to be sadly connected.

Walter Becker and Donald Fagen have been the backbone of Steely Dan for nearly 50 years; through the ups and downs, they were considered one of the most interesting and successful rock bands of all time. The two meet at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York in the late 60s, enjoying the common ground each had for contemporary sound and jazz music.

Steely Dan has won every honor imaginable, has released over nine albums, generally solidifying themselves as the best ever in many critics minds. Walter Becker of Steely Dan wrote or co-wrote some of the band’s biggest hits: “FM (No Static At All),” “My Old School,” “Deacon Blues,” “Do It Again,” “Reelin’ in the Years,” and “Hey 19.” Steely Dan has sold over 60 million records worldwide.
