Did you know that Halle Berry was the first black actress to win the Best Actress Award at the Oscars? Did you know that she’s still the only black woman to take home the award? This has caused quite a stir in recent years and just the other day Berry spoke out about the matter.
She told Teen Vogue that the win “meant nothing,” which is so sad to hear from someone who accomplished something so huge. She even called it one of her “lowest moments.”
Berry won the award in 2001 for her role in Monster’s Ball. When she won the award she commented that it would open the door for others to do the same. What a shame it is that she looks at her win like she currently does.
