The other day we sent out props to the Motor City, then Pittsburgh, with all its great singers, bands, songwriters, and influencers. Today, let’s give out shout out to the great city of Jacksonville, and you’ll learn that this city is rich in music history…

Although Ray Charles was born in Greenville FL, he moved to Jacksonville as a teenager, the most important years in his development as a singer and performer.

Country legend Tim McGraw spent a great deal of time in the Jacksonville area as a young child, his dad spending time with the minor league team The Jacksonville Suns.

The Allman Brothers, 38 Special, Rex Smith (“You Take My Breath Away”) Scott McKenzie (“San Francisco Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair”), most of the Lynyrd Skynyrd members, Greg Ekland from Everclear, The Classics IV, and even Pat Boone once called Jacksonville their home.
