One of the best Saturday Night Live skits stars Christopher Walken as studio producer behind the glass, encouraging a band to use ‘more cow bell’ in the song.

The band Blue Oyster Cult was the inspiration of the skit, and the actual artists behind the song “Don’t Fear the Reaper.” ‘BOC’ begin in 1967 off Long Island, earning FM airplay as a progressive or alternative rock band. Only did they hit the charts with catchy songs like “Fear the Reaper” or “Burning for You” did they achieve commercial success nationwide.
