They say that sometimes your own death can be the best way to get record sales. Unfortunately this seems to be true as many stars have seen their album sales jump after passing away. Look at David Bowie and Prince from this past year. Bowie’s “Blackstar” won many awards and Prince sold tons of awards. Prince sold so many units that he ranked number one in 2016!
Just last year he sold 2.23 million albums ranking ahead of Adele’s 2.21 million units. If you look at Prince passing away on April 21 of last year and look all the way to mid-April now you’re looking at 7.7 million units sold! That too ranks first during that time frame.
Prince was one amazing musician and performer and was always loved while he was alive. Now, that he has been taken from us he’s almost become even more popular.
