The North Carolina Tar Heels were one of the best all season long and they showed it last night. In a matchup pitting two of the top four seeds, UNC defeated the Gonzaga Bulldogs 71-65.
Joel Berry II led the team in scoring with 22 points while the three big rebounds for UNC, Meeks, Hicks and Pinson, really worked hard on the glass with 28 of the team’s 46 total rebounds.
Gonzaga played great to the very end, but they only shot 34% from the field. They struggled down low at times, which really did them in. Overall both teams struggled from the charity stripe with Gonzaga shooting free throws at a 65% clip and UNC at a 58% rate.
Congratulations to North Carolina, this year’s national champion!
