Bob Seger’s Tribute to Glenn Frey and More

With the death of friend Glenn Frey, Bob Seger wrote and made available a song online a few weeks ago called “Glenn Song” as a tribute to his friend of nearly 50 years. Robert Clark Seger was born in the Detroit suburb of Lincoln Park in 1945 and has had in interesting career. Here are a few fun Bob Seger fun facts…

Bob’s dad played a great many instruments in the early 50s, exposing his son to music, encouraging him musically. Then while Bob was still a young man, and at the drop of a hat, Bob’s dad walked out on the family moving to California, leaving Bob and his family to fend for themselves.

Bob credits Little Richard and Elvis as early influences, and he loved the Doo Wop group The Del-Vikings harmony and production.

Bob Left the ‘Bob Seger System’ in 1971 to go it alone, struggling until he began touring with Teegarden & Van Winkle. He then released Smokin’ O.P.’s, and the single “Heavy Music.” The rest they say is rock and roll history.
