Frank Ocean’s latest album was not a part of this years Grammys and there is a reason why. It’s not that it wasn’t a great album, but instead Frank didn’t submit it to be up for nominations. Before the show this weekend he explained to us this very thing and threw shade at the award show for its cultural biases.
Frank and others recently have been very open about not making it to the award show and while some like Drake can’t make it due to tour dates, Frank openly said he didn’t go because he doesn’t believe the award show is fair. He’s not alone though. Justin Bieber didn’t go because he doesn’t feel it represents the voice of young musicians. Kanye West didn’t go because, well, he’s Kanye West.
Frank Ocean recently penned a letter as to why he won’t be attending/didn’t attend the Grammys and it’s worth the read. Take a look online to see what we mean.
