On Saturday, August 1, 1981 at 12:01am Eastern the music world changed forever, as videos were woven into hit songs, giving fans an inside look at their favorite singer or bands, The VHI network made its debut a few years later on cable, designed to attract additional audiences to television. What were the VH1 top love songs of the 2000s?

.) Whitney Houston and “I Will Always Love You”
.) Elvis “Love Me Tender”
.) Celine Dion “My Heart Will Go On”
.) Journey with “Open Arms”
.) Paul McCartney and Wings “Maybe I’m Amazed”
.) The Righteous Brothers and “Unchained Melody”
.) Lionel Richie and Diana Ross “Endless Love”
.) Elton John “Your Song”
.) The Jackson 5 “I’ll Be There”

Observations: Talk about star power! Nearly every one of these artists is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, each a 75 million record seller. Sadly, Whitney, Elvis, Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers and Michael Jackson had passed on. Every living artist on this list remains musically relevant in today’s free market.
