Bob Seger has been rocking the Motor City and U.S.A. for over 40 years, from his fist smash hit “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man” to his work on the historic ‘Lice Bullet’ in 1976.

Here are five things you may not have known about Robert Clark Seger. First, Inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2001.

Glenn Frey’s first job as a studio musician was to sing backup and play guitar on Seger’s “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man.” Turnabout is fair play, so while Glenn Frey was a member of the Eagles, Bob would co-write their number one hit “Heartache Tonight.”

Bob’s movie theme hit “Shakedown” from Beverly Hills Cop II was originally written for Glenn Frey, but Glenn lost his voice right before the studio deadline, so the song was given to Bob.

“Old Time Rock N’ Roll” enjoyed little sales and chart success until it was used in the Tom Cruise movie ‘Risky Business.’

Seger’s “Like a Rock” was a nice song on the radio, but gained national prominence by its use in the Chevy truck commercials.
