George Michael and school mate Andrew Ridgeley created the 80s super group, Wham!, selling over 100 million records during their highly successful career. Sadly, George Michael died Christmas Day in a suburb north of London at the age of 53.

What were the most popular songs sung by George, as a member of Wham!, or as a solo artist?

“I Want Your Sex” was made for the MTV network, and Georges second hit after leaving Wham!. The song caused quite a stir on the radio and the video poured gas on the fire.

“Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” and “Careless Whisper” were beautiful in their own ways, proving George could carry any great lyric or constructed song.

“Faith” by George as a solo artist hit the charts in the UK, U.S.A., Canada and internationally. George wrote and produced every song on the album of the same name with the exception of one tune. The MTV video solidified George as a superstar.

“Last Christmas” will keep George alive in our hearts for Christmas days to come, one of the most rhythmic and modern holiday songs ever recorded. Think of “Last Christmas” as George’s best gift for each and every one of us.
