The 80s was an interesting time for rock and roll. The British invaded for a second time, with the likes of Modern English, Spandau Ballet, and Joe Jackson. What were the Top LPs of 1984?

.) ‘Born in the USA’ from Bruce Springsteen
.) ‘Ride the Lightning’ from Metallica
.) ‘1984’ from Van Halen
.) ‘Learning to Crawl’ from the Pretenders
.) ‘The Unforgettable Fire’ from U2
.) ‘Building the Perfect Best’ from Don Henley
.) ‘Heartbeat City’ from the Cars
.) ‘Body and Soul’ from Joe Jackson
.) ‘Reckoning’ from Georgia’s own R.E.M.

Prologue: 1984 turned out to be a great year for rock, as Bruce, Don Henley (by way of the Eagles) R.E.M, The Pretenders, Van Halen, Metallica, and U2 are all now in the Rock and Roll Hall. Only the deserving Cars, and less deserving Joe Jackson are yet to be admitted to the Hall. The hottest singles from this bevy of LPs were “Born in the USA,” “I’m on Fire,” ”Glory Days,” “Dancing in the Dark” and “My Hometown,” from Bruce, “Jump,” “Hot for Teacher,” and “Panama,” from Van Halen, and “Drive,” “You Might Think,” and “Magic,” from the Cars. “Boys of Summer,” and “All She Wants to Do is Dance” were million sellers from Don Henley. 1984 was a very good year!
