40 years ago this week David Bowie hit the charts with “Golden Years” and it made us curious what other rock songs were on the charts in 1976. Take a look and you’ll also be surprised.

In January 1976 the Bay City Rollers were on the charts with “Saturday Night,” a catchy song from the Scottish band that propelled them to fame and fortune, if only for a brief moment.

Peter Frampton’s “Comes Alive” LP blew all the sales records in late February of 1976, and Bob Seger came of age with “Night Moves” later that year.

Heart, Kiss, Thin Lizzy, Paul McCartney (as Wings), Boston, Bob Dylan, Chicago, the Sex Pistols, Rod Stewart, Blondie, and the Eagles all enjoyed a great 1976 as well.
