Wild Weekend of College Football

Heading into the weekend, there wasn’t much hoopla about the college football slate besides the big Alabama/LSU game. Well, we were wrong about how the weekend would turn out. The noon games really gave us a good watch while the night caps were nearly as exciting. Allow us to explain…

The noon games were led by the upset of number four Texas A&M. The Aggies dropped the game against Mississippi State in part because they lost their quarterback for about half the game. The Auburn/Vandy game was crazy exciting as well with one of Vandy’s defensive players jumping over the line to block a big field goal. Vandy couldn’t make the comeback, but we’ll be seeing that highlight for quite some time. Other great games in the early afternoon included the Lamar Jackson show against Boston College and an impressive trouncing of Maryland by Michigan.

The night games were led by the Alabama/LSU game that did not disappoint. It was close all game with the final score being just 10-0. The defenses led the way in this one, but it was the Alabama freshman quarterback, Jalen Hurts, that led the way in the second half. Did you catch the Florida State/NC State game? It started at 3:30, but lasted until the sun went down. FSU made a great comeback with minutes remaining to take home the victory and avoid defeat. Washington handled their business on the road against Cal winning 66-27. It’s never safe to assume, but we believe Washington will jump into that number four spot in the playoff rankings this week.
