Early Wednesday morning the world lost a great rapper. Of course we’re talking about the car crash that took Shawty Lo away from us. The artist from Atlanta, Georgia and founder of D4L Records has left us too soon.

It wasn’t too long ago that he released the songs “Laffy Taffy” and “Betcha Can’t Do It Like Me.” If you don’t recognize him from his more recent music then you definitely remember him from those two hits. “Laffy Taffy” would reach the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, a huge feat for the A-town rapper.

Who can forget when he questioned T.I. about his Bankhead background? There was plenty of drama stirred up because of that and it definitely entertained us for quite some time.

In his time, Shawty Lo was named the Rookie of the Year at the BET Hip Hop Awards and in that same year won the Track of the Year award for his hit, “Dey Know.”

We lost a great one too early. Rest in peace Shawty Lo.
