September 14 is a very special day for those in the music industry, especially those that are Amy Winehouse. It’s on that day in 1983 that a star was born and yes we’re talking about the late Amy Winehouse. We lost her too early, but it’s never too late to remember how talented of an act she was and her impact on the music industry.
In 2008, her work on her “Back to Black” album resulted in five wins at the Grammy Awards. This amazing night ended up tying the record for most wins in one night by a female artist at the Grammys. She also became the first British female to accomplish this feat as well. What a night it was as she won some of the biggest awards that night like Best New Artist, Song of the Year and Record of the year.
Amy was more than just a singer who won a lot of awards and sold a lot of records. She was widely known as a giving person, which is why she was once named by Pop World as the “most charitable act.” There are literally too many causes to name that she supported, but some of them include CARE, UNICEF, Teenage Cancer Trust, Children of the Andes and Save the Children among many others.
We lost Amy in 2011 to alcohol poisoning, but her voice and soul is still felt by those that she touched while she was on this earth.
