Mariah Carey and Her Fantasy

Every month it seems like we’re talking about an anniversary for one of Mariah Carey’s great hits or albums. This isn’t our fault as she just has so many great hits! Her latest hit to celebrate an anniversary is “Fantasy” off of her fifth studio album, “Daydream.” The album and single both came out in 1995 meaning they’re both legal to drink! 21 years ago Monday, this single was released as the lead single off this album and did not disappoint.

“Fantasy” would debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the second single ever to do so. It also became the first single done by a female artist to debut at number one on this chart.

This song was nominated and won many awards, but unfortunately didn’t take home the one Grammy nomination it was given. Somehow she lost out on the Best Female Pop Performance that year. “Fantasy” would go on to win awards at many awards shows including the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards, BMIs, and the Winter Music Conference National Dance Music Awards among others.
