It was just the other day that Mariah Carey celebrated a special anniversary with her music. On August 26, 1997, she released the single “Honey” and boy did it do well. It would become her third single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in its first week. This amazing stat has yet to be outdone, as she still holds that record for debut number one singles!
What made this single so different for Mariah was that it showed off her sexual side, something she had never done before.
When it was all said and done, “Honey” would reach number one on five different charts in the United States and Canada. It would also sell over three million units!
“Honey” came off of the album “Butterfly,” her sixth album release.
