Just Who is Zayn?

When you hear the one word Madonna, you instantly know who it is. It’s the same for the Donald or Sting. When you hear the one word Zayn, what do you think? Zayn has a song that turned into a big hit for him; “Pillow Talk,” a song that received airplay from so many media outlets these past few months. Who or what is Zayn?

Zayn is an English singer/songwriter who competed in the British version of ‘X Factor,’ only to be eliminated early in the show. The producers brought Zayn back for an episode, and the rest they say is rock and roll history. You’ve heard of the band ‘One Direction’ right? Well Zayn joined Harry, Niall, Liam and Louis to start that group.

Zayn grew up in Branford, West Yorkshire England, and his parents of English and Pakistani backgrounds. Yes, Zayn is Muslim and has received so much push back; he recently deleted his Twitter and Facebook accounts. It’s not easy growing up different from the others, born to a working class family in lower income neighborhoods.

Zayn signed with the RCA label as a solo artist, releasing “Pillow Talk” to rave reviews.
