The Weeknd has had one heck of a run recently and he’s doing great things with the money he has earned. He recently donated $50,000 to his hometown university, University of Toronto. More specifically, he donated the money to the school to fund an Ethiopic Studies program.

The Bikila Award group, who is helping in getting this program off its feet, contacted The Weeknd hoping for just a response and what they got was much better. For those that don’t know, The Weeknd was born to Ethiopian parents. Those associated with the program seemed to be in awe over the donation.

Kudos to The Weeknd for his charitable giving and for wanting to give back to something so important to him.
