It was many years ago that Nelly would release his “Country Grammar” album and dominate the airwaves for years to come. The album came with huge hits like “E.I.,” “Batter Up,” Ride wit Me” and Country Grammar (Hot Shit).” You couldn’t go 10 minutes on the radio without listening to one of these hits in 2000 and 2001. Not surprisingly, the album peaked at number one on Billboard’s 200 and Hip-Hop charts those years.

Just recently, it has been announced that “Country Grammar” has received Diamond certification from RIAA, meaning that it has sold over 10 million records and is no longer considered a platinum record. What an amazing feat for Nelly and his debut album that was released 16 years ago. He joins a small list of hip-hop albums to receive this Diamond certification. Some of those on that list include MC Hammer, Outkast, Eminem, Michael Jackson and 2Pac.
