Heartbreaking news this week reveals that Glen Campbell’s wife, Kim, has shared, Glen’s Alzheimer’s disease has now taken away his ability to play the guitar. In fact she believes he doesn’t even recognize the instrument.
Glen announced his fight with this dreaded sickness in 2011, working hard to maintain a normal physical and mental aspect of his life. Glen agreed to tour on the road last year for a documentary/special, traveling with Kim and a few of his teenage grandchildren on a tour bus. Sadly, Kim shares that Glen has also lost the ability to speak, recognizing only smiles and kisses on the cheek. It’s hard to understand how a disease could steal so much from a person, all be it one of the greatest contributors to country and pop music in our lifetime.
Years ago, Glen spoke of his revived faith and belief in the almighty father, saying that he surely believed in heaven, he simply didn’t want to go right now. It seems Glen’s time is near, we know not when we’re called to spend eternity with those that went before us.
