This week Fantasia celebrates her 32nd birthday so it really doesn’t feel like any better of a time to look back at how she got to this point.
Fantasia has certainly gone through tough times, growing up in North Carolina and being raped while in high school. After dropping out of high school she would end up having a child at the age of 16 with her ex-boyfriend.
Just a few years later Fantasia would appear on American Idol and wow us all. In fact, Simon Cowell called her the greatest contestant ever in any competition ever seen before. He was that impressed with her! After winning American Idol, Fantasia would release her first single, “I Believe,” which would end up debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Free Yourself” was the album that came out right after that and would earn three Grammy nominations.
From there the rest is history, but Fantasia is living proof that anyone can overcome adversity not matter how young or old they are.
