The Movie “Get On Up,” starring the incredible talents of actor Chadwick Boseman, turned out to be a great film when released a while ago, and may be the best adaptation of the life of the Godfather of Soul, the man, the incomparable James Brown. Here are a few things about the legend you may not have known about this music icon…

Although a young Democrat, James’s political leanings were more Republican, having supported Richard Nixon and the GOP in the 70s and 80s.

James was married four times and had nine children at the time of his death.

James Brown is considered the ‘Father of Funk’ and has won Grammy, Soul, Brit, Billboard, and Lifetime Achievement awards.

The Godfather of Soul has his own Hollywood Walk of Fame Star, is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, UK Hall of Fame, New York and Georgia Hall of Fame.
