Monday is here, and we’re one week away from a day off – the 4th of July. In the meantime, let’s get to some music news headlines…

The Kennedy Center announced last week the selections of five well deserving honorees, receiving the prestigious 2016 Kennedy Center Honors. Mavis Staples, James Taylor, and the Eagles are the American musical inductees, while actor Al Pacino and Argentine pianist Martha Argerich will also be honored.

Led Zeppelin (Page and Plant) were cleared of plagiarism last week, winning the law suit brought against them which claimed they stole the opening guitar riffs (and substantial copyrights) of the Spirit song “Taurus” for their classic “Stairway to Heaven.”

Sting and Peter Gabriel have joined forces to kicked off a summer tour in Columbus, Ohio last week called the ‘Rock, Paper, and Scissors’ tour. The two had been friends and mutual admirers for decades, but have never been on stage together until this union.

Kansas announced that its first studio album in 16 years called ‘The Prelude Implicit’ will be released in mid-September.
