68 year old rock and roll singer Meatloaf collapsed during a rendition of “I Would Do Anything For Love” last night in Edmonton, Canada, causing his stage entourage to rush to his aid. Meatloaf was immediately taken to an area hospital for observations and we’re awaiting further results from tests conducted upon his arrival. The singer had been diagnosed with a heart condition a few years ago, but continued a rigorous concert schedule across multiple continents.

Born Marvin Lee Aday in 1947, Meatloaf has had a lengthy career in rock over the past 30 years, providing the world with countless hits and nearly 85 million in album sales. Meatloaf has also appeared in films, including the popular Edward Norton/Brad Pitt classic “Fight Club,” with various television appearances over the years. Meatloaf resides in Austin, and has been a devout vegetarian for over 10 years.

We’ll keep track of Meatloaf’s condition over the next few days, and update you on his hopeful release from the hospital and road to recovery.
