More Songs Being Inducted Into Grammy Hall of Fame

Baseball players dream of one day being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Musicians are lucky in that that they have a couple of Hall doors that could open for them. Obviously the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is such an honor, the other distinction is being chosen for the Grammy Hall of Fame. Here are a few of songs (songs are just one of four ways to get into the Grammy Hall of Fame) that will be inducted in the 2016 class…

“The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack in the early 70s is a masterpiece of writing and vocals, but not written by Roberta. The song was written by Ewan MacColl a folk singer/songwriter. The song was recorded by the Kingston Trio, The Brothers Four, Peter Paul and Mary and Gordon Lightfoot – but made a hit by Roberta Her version made the song the Grammy ‘Song of the Year’ and number one song in 1972.

“Heart of Glass” by Blondie was the band’s third single in 1979, but originally written and put on the shelves five years earlier with a slower more funkier beat, considered a waste of time by the band. When they were looking for new material with new producer Giorgio Moroder (a producer that went on to literally father the disco era) and remembered the song.
