“Jet Airliner” by Steve Miller is a fairly simple song to play on the guitar, but sounds so good when you hear it. From the album ‘Book of Dreams,’ the song is a cover from a Paul Pena song released originally in the early 70s and is a true description of how Paul had to from Boston to Montreal to play his first big gig.
“Timothy,” a song about cannibalism, made the band ‘The Buoys’ a one hit wonder in 1970, but sounded so good on the car radio. Here’s a few cool backstory notes. The song was written by Rupert Holmes (yup, the “Pina Colada” dude). Rupert who discovered band and figured to write the song with the intentions of having the song banded. His thinking the scandal would give these ‘no names’ publicity. Well, it worked. It’s too bad The Buoys had only enough talent to make ‘Timothy’ their only hit.
