Madonna has gone through many phases during her lifetime and she’s been quite successful during all of them. During the late 90s, Madonna turned into a new age pop star conforming to the hits around her with one of her biggest hits, “Ray of Light.”

“Ray of Light” was released 18 years ago last Friday, May 6, and was the winner of two Grammys! She won the Grammy for Best Dance Recording and Best Short Form Music Video, but lost her only other nomination, Record of the Year. The song and album all together would win five more awards at the MTV Music Video Awards that year as well.

This song was considered a major dance hit and with its upbeat sound, it makes a whole lot of sense to see it do so well in those dance genres. It would peak at number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs as well as the singles charts in Spain and Sweden.

Can’t remember the song? Well, you can take a listen to it here!
