The song “Cake by the Ocean” is a catchy tune on the charts and in your car radio from the band DNCE. Let’s get to know more about this four-member American band.
DNCE is Joe Jonas (one of the Jonas brothers), Jack Lawless, Jin Joo Lee, and Cole Whittle. The band was nominated for ‘Best New Artist’ for the 2016 Kids Choice Awards for Lip Syncing in that year’s Disney awards.
DNCE has been together for over year, quietly performing in concert to fine tune their skills. Their big break came as a cameo in the Fox TV’s ‘Grease Live’ in January of this year.
The band mentions some really cool groups as musical influences, including Electric Light Orchestra, Sly and the Family Stone, Earth Wind & Fire and Hall and Oates. You may see then open for Selena Gomez on tour this summer.
DNCE is one band we’ll definitely be seeing for quite some time as long as hits like “Cake By the Ocean” keep coming out of their camp.
