Peter Frampton’s “Alive” album was recorded from live concerts in upstate New York, California, and Pittsburgh shows. It’s been unofficially credited with inspiring Bob Seger to do the same, releasing ‘Silver Bullet Live” a few minutes early. Most fans don’t realize this “Alive” album was Peter’s fifth album.
Peter Frampton is one of the shortest guitarists at 5’7. Each of his wives were taller than he was. He has been in Family Guy, the Simpsons, and the Blues Brothers movie with Dan Akroyd and John Belushi. He was also the consultant to the Cameron Crowe movie “Almost Famous.”
“Frampton Comes Alive” was on the charts for nearly 100 weeks, delivering five chart topping singles to the radio.
Like most British guitarist from the UK, Peter mentions Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix, the Ventures, and Eddie Cochran as early influences in style and delivery. At the age of 14 Peter played in a band called the Truebeats, managed by the Rolling Stones Bill Wyman.
