Beatles mentor and producer George Martin died recently at the age of 90, but his legacy continues. George had been working with PBS on a documentary called “Soundbreaking: Stories from the Cutting Edge of Recording Music,” a look at the stories from decades of music. The piece will take an in-depth look at the innovators of music in front and behind the microphones.

Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Barry Gibb, Roger Daltrey, the late B.B. King, Annie Lennox, Bonnie Raitt, Elton John, Lindsey Buckingham, Steven Van Vandt, Debbie Harry, Quincy Jones and more were interviewed for the PBS special.

“Soundbreaking: Stories from the Cutting Edge of Recording Music,” will cover the process. This includes live instruments with one take on tape, overdubbing (thanks Buddy Holly) the moog synthesizer, phasing, and digital effects to streaming will all be covered in the PBS George Martin special, set to air in its entirety in November of this year.
