Hollywood often spends millions of dollars in the production of a movie sound track, yet the best movie music is music heard on the radio. These songs are already popular, familiar, and relatively inexpensive compared to the alternatives. Here is part two of ‘Great Songs in Great Movies.’

“Incense and Peppermints” by the 60s one hit wonder, the Strawberry Alarm Clock, was used in many movies, including Austin Powers; International Man of Mystery,’ ‘Beyond the Valley of the Dolls,’ Psych Out,’ and the Disney movie ‘Recess: School’s Out.’

“Louie, Louie” by the one hit wonders, the Kingsmen, has appeared in over 30 movies, including the classic ‘Animal House,’ ‘Dave,’ “Wayne’s World,’ ‘American Graffiti,’ ‘Mr. Holland’s Opus,’ ‘Wild Things,’ and ‘Friday Night Lights.’

“Gimme Some Lovin,” the powerful song by the Spencer Davis Group, all but made the Tom Cruise movie ‘Days of Thunder,’ with the combination of that great down beat and cars going 200+ MPH on the big screen.

“I Got You Babe” by Sonny and Cher became the start of every repetitive day for Bill Murray in the classic movie ‘Groundhog Day.’ No other song rings that bell so loudly.
