In the 80s and 90s, we experienced a wide array of musical sounds. Some of these sounds included the rich sounds of soul and early R&B, rocking hair bands, punk rock, and techno, but love remained the common denominator regardless of style. What were the best love ballads of the 80s and 90s? Here are more of our favorites…

What can you say about Wham that hasn’t been read in a police report, but “Carless Whisper,” and “Where did Your Heart Go” brought George and Andrew to our shores with love in their hearts and lines of fans when they toured.

The soulful sound of “How About Us” by Champaign, “Cherish” by Kool and the Gang, “What’s Love Got to Do With It” by Tina Turner, and Whitney’s “I Will Always Love You” are the songs that re-defined R&B and Soul for future generations.

The British Spandau Ballet hit it big with a song called “True,” a rich soulful single that put made is love he saxophone again, and the rich voice of Tony Hadley.
